Music Mondays 2023
Welcome to our 32nd Season of summer-lunchtime
concerts!
Our 2023 Season will begin on Monday June 5th and run
until Labour Day, Monday Sept. 4th. Concerts take place
at 12:15 in the historic Church of the Holy Trinity,
Trinity Square.
Music Mondays has served as a launching pad for emerging
talent, and celebration of established local talent
since its inception in 1992. Our concerts take place in
the warm acoustics of Holy Trinity Church, just steps
away from the Eaton Centre. Our goal is to provide the
highest possible musical experience to a
pay-what-you-can downtown Toronto audience - office
workers, tourists, retired folks, young children, the
homeless, students and the musically curious. The
acoustics of Holy Trinity are very special - warm and
inviting. The church boasts two fine instruments: a
Steinway B Concert Grand and a superb Casavant Frčres
tracker-action baroque organ.
This summer, our concerts once again represent an
eclectic mix of classical, light-classical, world, and
jazz performances! The season opens with a Celebration
of Persian Music with Ali Massoudi and Padideh
Ahrarnejad featuring a variety of instruments such as
the tar, setar, tombak, and daf, among others. Other
world music programs will include the flamenco music of
Lara Wong Trio as well as trumpet music from Brazil and
Canada with trumpeters Aaron Hodgson and Nikola
Locatelli. Our wonderful Steinway concert grand will
receive quite a work-out with La Fiammata Piano Duo
(Linda Ruan and Charissa Vandikas) and the gifted
Canadian piano soloist Victoria Wong, recording live for
CBC MUSIC. Many concerts will feature small ensembles
such as the Odin Quartet with pianist Alex Panizza; the
Ezra Duo (Jacob Clewell, viola and Sasha Bult-Ito,
piano); Coriolis Trio (Jung Tsai, violin, cellist
Rebecca Morton, and Tomoko Inui, piano); Ensemble Elatós
(Matthew Cohen, viola, Noémie Raymond-Friset, cello,
Zhenni Li-Cohen, piano) in an innovative program
"Femmetastique"; and Italian clarinetist Marco Verza
will be performing the beloved Mozart Clarinet Quintet
with the Toronto Concert Orchestra String Quartet, and a
commissioned work dedicated to Maestro Kerry Stratton.
Of course, we will have some Jazz with the Jesse
Dietschi Trio, and organist Conrad Gold will perform on
the church's superb Casavant tracker organ on July 3
during the RCCO Festival of Pipes, Canada 2023! Come on
out every Monday this summer at 12:15 pm and enjoy some
beautiful music in downtown Toronto with our fabulous
guest performers!
We are grateful for the generous support of the Toronto
Arts Council, Steinway Piano Gallery Toronto, the
Downtown Yonge BIA and CBC MUSIC for their continuing
support, and you, our dedicated audience.
Please join us to celebrate our 32nd Season - every
Monday at 12:15pm from June to Labour Day!
